Add More Value to Your Cage Cards

The CageTalkers Extended Fields feature enhances the CageTalkers system by enabling the addition of vital, cage-specific data that is not available in the Animal Management System (AMS) — but still required at the cage level.

This powerful functionality ensures that your electronic cage cards provide a complete, contextual snapshot of each cage, helping improve animal welfare and streamline facility operations.

What Are Extended Fields?

In addition to the standard fields mapped by the AMS to populate CageTalkers cards via SOAP/XML messages, CageTalkers allows the configuration of custom extended fields. These fields are defined when data is first received from the AMS.

Subsequent AMS updates for that cage will replicate the extended field data in silent mode — maintaining consistency without manual intervention.

If modifications to extended fields are needed, users can easily access and update them via the CageTalkers ClientApp by entering the CageTalkerID or cage identifier.

Edit Options

Extended fields can be edited in multiple ways:

• CageTalkers ClientApp (Default) – Local or networked editing.
• Web Application – Optional browser-based interface.
• Animal Management System Integration – AMS providers can incorporate this functionality directly into their systems using the XML structure, allowing edits from within the AMS environment (though these changes are not sent as SOAP messages).
