The CageTalkers middleware facilitates the generation of event-related alerts independently of the Animal Management System (AMS). Through the CageTalkers Mobile application, users can record alerts based on direct observations and update the processing status of event-driven or observation-driven alerts as needed.

These alerts may also be displayed as dynamic watermarks on the CageTalker devices themselves, with optional flashing functionality initiated by the CageTalkers Mobile to draw attention. This enables on-site interaction with cage data—such as editing and updating—without the need for physical documentation or access to a computer.

Observational data are typically collected during routine daily cage checks. The 3 pages of the digital cage cards can be switched by the Fast Infrared Access Key (FAIK) but are also accessible via CageTalkers Mobile. They are presented in a structured, three-page format that supports both the documentation of new observations as alerts and the modification of existing alert statuses.

Alerts that are automatically generated in response to predefined events are designed to expire after a configurable duration, ensuring that only relevant and timely information is displayed to the user.
