CageTalkers®-Assist directly connects Excel animal data with digital cage cards and improves hygiene, compliance, and workflow efficiency in laboratory animal facilities.
The Problem
Scientists manage animal data in Excel, while animal care staff must use this data at laminar flow workstations or transfer tables. This workflow creates systemic media discontinuity. It causes inefficiency and introduces real risks to quality, hygiene, and compliance.
How the Data Enters the System
Users upload data to CageTalkers®-Assist automatically as generated XML files via SOAP messages, through an Excel macro using a drop folder, or manually via USB stick. The system accepts all methods seamlessly.
Processing
CageTalkers®-Assist updates digital CageTalkers® cage cards directly at the cage whenever cage contents change, fully replacing printers and paper.
The system also generates event-based alerts automatically, and users can record observations as alerts.
The User Interface
Users control imports, pairing, weaning, collection, and observations efficiently via the ergonomically positioned CageTalkers® Assist Device on the workboard. The keypad adapts context-sensitively to the screen functions, allowing users to trigger database transactions with a single keystroke.
The Benefits
CageTalkers® improve hygiene by keeping labels permanently attached to containers and updating them automatically on site. Staff no longer handle individual cage cards.
Clear, permanently legible displays increase process reliability. The system also significantly reduces walking distances between printers and cages.
Field of Application
